Job ID:  14265
Location:

8 Commonweath Lane Grande Buil, SG

Description:

Work Location: Commonwealth/Paya Lebar

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for system design, system analysis and installation design of Mechanical Systems (e.g. Airconditioning, smoke detection, hydraulics, pneumatics, water/waste systems, etc.) on commercial aircraft. You will ensure that the design meets safety requirements, airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles and parts are manufactured using suitable materials and processes.

System design involves designing/modifying a system to serve the intended function. It involves component selection and component environmental qualification.

System analysis involves analyzing the system performance to ensure the intended function is achievable to minimize costly trial-and-error testing and re-design. It involves safety analysis and performance analysis (e.g. flow, thermal, component sizing, etc.) using specific software or hand calculations.

Installation design involves the use of CAD modelling to perform 3D design and 2D drawings.

You will be a member of project team(s) working together with other engineers of various disciplines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Generate mechanical system designs in 3D and drafting of parts and installation drawings in 2D.

2. Demonstrate modification designs are compliant with requirement from relevant aviation authorities and design principles

3. Perform analysis to substantiate performance of the mechanical system design

4. Interact closely with engineers from other disciplines to achieve an optimized and cost-effective design within the stipulated project schedule

5. Deliver presentations to customers and aviation authorities on modification designs as required

6. Support aircraft prototyping and troubleshooting activities

7. Support/Perform aircraft testing to verify performance of mechanical system

8. Support technical publication activities

9. Support aircraft production activities

10. Contribute to the improvement and development of mechanical system design capabilities within the organization

SKILLS:

1. Experience with CAD software. Knowledge of CATIA V5, for 3D modeling and 2D drawings will be an added advantage.

2. Experience with Thermal/Flow software (e.g. FloMaster, ScFlow, 6SigmaET, etc.) will be an added advantage.

3. Proficient in Microsoft Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint

4. Practical experience in supporting aircraft modification projects will be an added advantage

5. Experience on composite structures will be an added advantage

6. Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to work independently
