Purpose of the Job:

The primary focus is to turn raw materials into products in the most effective, efficient, and economical way possible for the manufacturing process. This includes planning manufacturing processes, researching technical papers for new metallurgy processes, and developing tools, processes, and equipment to produce quality products with optimal capital expenditure. Additionally, the focus is on the design, operation, and control to optimize both casting and machining processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in technical know-how and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role is also responsible for new production development, cost reduction initiatives, and implementing automation processes.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain process work routing.
  • Prepare production and inspection processes.
  • Support engineering development in the process of metallurgy and machining operations.
  • Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and productivity improvement projects. Oversee processes and work to optimize the production line.
  • Lead, prepare, and implement the First Article part process, including documentation packages.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time.
  • Improve processes to shorten cycle times and ensure quality consistency for existing products, as well as develop new products.
  • Use simulation software in the development of new processes.
  • Monitor equipment, including regular testing and ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out.
  • Prepare CNC programs for part machining processes and design machine fixtures for casting machining.
  • Liaise with other departments regarding the delivery requirements of customer orders.
  • Provide guidance and support to operators in milling, turning, grinding, and honing machining processes.
  • Possess a technical inclination to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes.
  • Keep up to date with current and developing trends in the manufacturing industry, both nationally and internationally.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time.

  •  To Head of Engineering

 

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of working experience in the precision casting process preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge in using Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and creating NC programming.
  • Experience in process planning, including jig and fixture design and tool application.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written in English and Chinese).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Improve processes to shorten cycle times and ensure quality consistency.
  • Possess technical inclination to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge in non-destructive testing (FPI, X-ray), heat treatment, and machining processes.
  • Knowledge in data analytics for cost savings.

Technical Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Computer literacy (including a good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written in English and Chinese)
