Mechanical System Engineer Job Description
As a Mechanical System Engineer, you will contribute as a key member of a multi-disciplined & dynamic project team to create innovative engineering solutions and repairs. You will be responsible for the modifications of Mechanical Systems on the aircraft (e.g. air-conditioning, hydraulics, water/waste, oxygen, etc.), from conceptual design to final aircraft acceptance testing.
Responsibilities:
- Generate mechanical system designs using CAD software.
- Ensure modification designs are compliant with requirements from relevant aviation authorities.
- Perform analysis related to function (e.g. flow rates of air, usage of oxygen, etc.) to substantiate designs.
- Work closely with engineers from other disciplines to achieve an optimal and cost-effective design within the stipulated project schedule.
- Present to internal/external stakeholders and aviation authorities on modification designs to get buy-ins.
- Support aircraft prototyping and production activities.
- Perform/Support testing activities.
- Generate technical publications.
Requirements:
- Masters / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering
- Experience with CAD software, particularly CATIA V5, for 3D modelling and 2D drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Words/ Excel/ Power Point.
- Creative and passionate about design.
- Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to work independently
- Experience/Knowledge in the following will be an added advantage:
- Knowledge in VBA and/or other coding programs for data processing.
- Practical experience in supporting aircraft mechanical system modification projects.
- Composite structures design/repair.
Working Environment:
The engineer will work in a conducive climate-controlled office, with prototyping/production support and testing conducted in the hangar, labs or open-air areas. He/She will learn On-the-Job with guidance and supervision by senior peers and supervisor. The engineer will get to experience a dynamic and challenging environment, which utilizes his/her creativity and innovativeness.
