Summary
As the Manager of the Technology and Engineering Office, you will play a crucial role in shaping and supporting the research and development (R&D) and technology strategies that align with the company's overarching business priorities and long-term vision. A key aspect of this role is to maintain an expert understanding of current and emerging technology trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decision-making and foster innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop, refine, and implement R&D and technology strategies that complement business objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and competitive positioning.
- Emerging Technology Scouting: Continuously monitor and analyse emerging technology trends, competitor activities, and market research data to advise on opportunities and potential risks, facilitating informed strategic planning.
- Partnership and Ecosystem Engagement: Develop and nurture partnerships with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), Research Institutes (RIs), start-ups, and industry stakeholders to integrate best practices and fuel an innovation-driven culture within the organisation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster and maintain effective collaboration across engineering functions and technology domains to enable cohesive project execution and knowledge sharing.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Deliver clear, insightful presentations and reports translating complex technical information into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience encompassing engineering development, R&D strategy formulation, technology planning, research administration, or programme management.
- Proven ability to support and drive technology and R&D strategies aligned with organisational goals and evolving business landscapes.
- Deep understanding of emerging technological advancements, market developments, and competitor environments, including their potential impact on strategic direction.
- Demonstrated success in forming and managing collaborations with academic institutions, research bodies, start-ups, and technology ecosystem entities.
- Comprehensive appreciation of engineering disciplines and technology domains, coupled with experience in managing cross-functional technical teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills; adept at translating technical concepts into accessible insights for diverse audiences.
