Purpose of Role:


The Senior Planning Engineer will lead and coordinate the scheduling and planning efforts for assigned shipbuilding projects, ensuring the efficient execution of project schedules. This includes performing regular project status reviews, analysing progress, and reporting key insights to stakeholders.

This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring shipbuilding projects are delivered on schedule by managing comprehensive planning processes, optimizing resources, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership ability, and industry experience to drive successful project outcomes in a fast-paced shipbuilding environment.

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  1. Schedule Development and Coordination
    • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop project planning procedures and ensure adherence to project requirements.
    • Gather and integrate technical and scheduling inputs to establish and maintain the Project Master Schedule using industry-standard tools and best practices.
  2. Project Planning and Analysis
    • Develop and monitor progress measurement tools, not limited to histogramss-curves, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Perform critical path analysis, create "look-ahead" schedules, and conduct “what-if” scenario planning for effective decision-making.
    • Assess potential schedule impacts due to scope changes or delays and provide mitigation strategies.
  3. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Provide comprehensive progress reports to stakeholders, detailing schedule adherence, variances, and recovery plans where necessary.
    • Conduct regular schedule risk analyses to identify potential bottlenecks and risks, providing actionable recommendations.
  4. Optimization and Resource Management
    • Identify opportunities for optimizing resources to improve the efficiency of planned activities.
    • Collaborate with teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and streamline project execution.
  5. Documentation and Lessons Learned
    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including lessons learned and historical data, for future reference and process improvements.
 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Operations Management.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of planning experience in shipbuilding, offshore, or maritime industries.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing schedules for complex shipbuilding or FPSO projects.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Advanced user of Primavera P6.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in developing recovery plans and detailed progress tracking.
    • Strong knowledge of project management, risk management, and change management processes.
  • Skills:
    • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly with major stakeholders, both internal and external.
    • High commitment to achieving project objectives and delivering on time.
