Job Description Summary

 

The incumbent will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced digital trunked radio systems that are essential for MRT/LRT communications, both in Singapore and internationally.

 

Key Job Accountabilities

 

  • Design and implement digital trunked radio systems tailored for MRT/LRT communications, ensuring alignment with project specifications and client needs.
  • Thoroughly analyse project requirements, translating them into functional radio system designs suitable for high-performance rail networks.
  • Study, understand and undertake system IT network design and architecture drawings (using BIM software) for optimal RF cable routing, as well as RF coverage design.
  • Conduct RF intermodulation/interference studies and EMC/EMI assessments, and undertake cell planning and RF link budgets to ensure robust radio system performance, especially in complex urban environments.
  • Engage in comprehensive system integration activities, interfacing seamlessly with other sub-systems, troubleshooting issues, conducting site tests, commissioning systems, and providing warranty support as needed.
  • Interpret and explain various technical documentation, engaging in complex technical designs, drawing interpretations, and schematic diagram analyses.
  • Ensure that all project requirements are met satisfactorily while obtaining essential client concurrence.
  • Plan, participate and facilitate project meetings, managing both administrative tasks and miscellaneous activities in support of project objectives.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders, maintaining clear communication and managing expectations effectively.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the delivery of reliable products backed by warranties.
  • Implement and uphold stringent cybersecurity measures to safeguard the integrity of radio communication systems against potential threats.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations using PowerPoint, alongside generating technical documentation and detailed design drawings.
  • Regularly analyse operational logs to identify issues and implement effective resolutions, fostering continuous improvement in system performance.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunication Engineering, or related engineering domains.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, with an emphasis on implementation within communication systems.
  • Familiarity with the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) is highly desirable and will be an asset to our evolving projects.
  • Exceptional multitasking capabilities and the ability to deliver results under pressure, especially when facing tight deadlines.
  • A willingness to travel for overseas work assignments and a flexible approach to working hours, particularly during railway engineering hours.
  • A proactive, independent mindset combined with strong teamwork skills and effective communication abilities that promote a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exposure to radio communications systems from multiple established suppliers, with an understanding of technical terms such as peripheral integration protocols, radio network parameters, RF propagation models, IP network addressing, and air interface protocols in railway environments is advantageous.
