Job Description Summary

 

The incumbent will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting data communication systems for Rail & Metro transportation projects

 

Key Job Accountabilities

 

  • To design, select, implement, test and commissioning the data communication system for Rail & Metro Transportation in local and overseas projects
  • To conduct Proof of concept, factory acceptance test as well as interface system integration test prior the actual design/ onsite implementation.
  • To conduct system acceptance test with the customer after implementation prior handling over to the customer.
  • To provide high level of system availability, access controls of network resources, technical write-up and updating of the network infrastructure for the project being implemented.
  • To pro-actively monitor critical system and troubleshoot if there are faults detected from the system through the use of automated tools. 
  • To configure and install transport network equipment (Example: Huawei, Nokia) and Local Area network equipment (Example: Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent) based on the project requirements.
  • To liaise with vendors and suppliers for job to be accomplished as well as time schedule of delivery to meet the project timeline.

Required Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Diploma/Degree in IT or Computer Engineering related discipline
  • CCNA/CCNP/HCIA/HCIP or other relevant certification will be advantageous
  • 1-5 years’ experience working with Transport Network such as IP-MPLS, Local Area Network (OSPF, ERP etc.) technologies
  • Experience in Cisco/ Alcatel-Lucent/ Extreme/Huawei network devices or other devices such as routers, switches, etc.
  • Experience in Network design/ planning/ implementation/troubleshooting will be an advantage
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well organized, proactive and self-directed, able to perform with minimal supervision and also a team player.

  • The incumbent reports to Senior Principal Engineer, ICOMMS, Mobility Rail
