Senior Engineer, System Operations


Responsibilities

 

  • Plan, design, test, implement and operate our hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Plan and onboard VMs based on the user requirements
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.
  • Implement & operate our OpenStack-based private cloud. May need to perform tasks on other private cloud platforms such as VMWare
  • Perform private-cloud administration tasks, such as provisioning/de-provisioning of resources, maintaining security posture, user administration, monitoring computing resource utilization, network setup, backup/restore and incident management
  • Performs system administration activities in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Troubleshooting, performs root cause analysis, implements corrective/preventive actions during and after an incident
  • Create and maintain documentation and processes for Troubleshooting, maintaining, and configuring systems
  • Support audit and infrastructure / network security scans, disaster recovery and security related drills
  • Explore, learn and deploy new technologies that will help the company to reduce cost or improve operational efficiencies
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products.
  • Work with Security team in determining vulnerabilities in IT applications and infrastructure, and perform remediations based on the VAPT findings and recommendations
  • Work with Network Engineering and Cyber Security  team on needed requirements in deploying IT applications such as Firewalls, NAT, WAF, Load Balancers, EDR and AV.

 

Requirements

 

  • Strong Linux & Windows server system administration experience specifically in a virtualized environment. Preferably with RHSA/RHCE or MCSA/MCSE certification.
  • Experienced in virtualization, cloud & converged infrastructure technologies
  • Extensive experience in private cloud (Openstack / VMWare), and with exposure to public cloud
  • Experience in hybrid cloud design and implementation highly preferred
  • Practical knowledge and experience of container and container orchestration (Docker, rkt, Kubernetes etc.). Exposure to other cloud native tools such CNCF projects
  • Experience using cloud system monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix, Prometheus, Nagios etc.).
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in infrastructure areas such as virtual server technologies, networking, internet protocols, scripting & monitoring tools and IT Security.
  • Experience with installation, configuration and management of metric/log collection and aggregation tools like Splunk and ELK, creating dashboards and configuring alerts with tools like ServiceNow, Jira, Hipchat, Slack.
  • Knowledge in configuration management system like Ansible, chef, terraform etc
  • Knowledge of selected programming languages (e.g. Python, Go, R etc.)
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools like Git, Jenkin, Ansible, Docker, puppet, chef etc.
  • Knowledge in data centre inter-networking. Having CCNA or other networking certification will be an added advantage.
  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
  • Ability to work independently, and proactively
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups
  • 2 – 6 years of experience; BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree preferred
