Senior Engineer - Instrument Control & Automation Design

Overall purpose of job:

 

  • Perform ICA related design and integration activities during tender and project execution phases.
  • Review OEM technical document and conduct design and integration reviews with other trades, OEMs and Customers.
  • Provide engineering support during commissioning and testing phase if required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs) and review specifications for Distributed Control System (DCS)/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Instrumentations.
  • Review technical proposals from OEMs to ensure compliance to our design requirement.
  • Prepare and review control system architecture, Functional Design Specification (FDS), Process Control Narrative (PCN) and Process Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Prepare and review Instrument datasheets and put up material purchase requisitions.
  • Work with other project team members to comply with project requirements and meet project schedules.
  • Involve in the design, engineering of the following activities:
  • Prepare and review I/O list and Graphical User Interface (GUI) pages for DCS/SCADA programming.
  • Prepare layout drawings of instrumentation and ICA equipment.
  • Conduct integration and design reviews with Customer and OEMs.
  • Review document/drawings from OEM/subcontractor's design to ensure all project specifications and design standards are met.
  • Review and ensure all interfaces and signal mapping between DCS/SCADA and the instruments and other equipment such as control valves, electrical systems, HVAC, Pumps are established and agreed. 
  • Prepare and review instrument hook-ups to ensure tie-in point with pipes and tanks are correct.
  • Prepare and review cable and termination diagrams for production/subcontractors.
  • Liaise with customers in the review and approval of ICA related design document.
  • Review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures from OEM and participate in FAT with customers to ensure system functionality as per design requirement before delivery to site.

 

Requirements:

 

  • 3-5 years of MEICA work experience, preferably in water/waste water projects.
  • Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering / Instrumentation & Control Engineering / Advanced Diploma in Process Control and Instrumentation.
  • Has testing and commissioning experience
  • Experience in selection, installation and commissioning of instrumentation.
  • Experience in basic programming of PLC/DCS and SCADA
  • Design experience within the Water Industry sector will be an advantage, including areas such as portable water production and distribution and waste water treatment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit and BIM will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and skills: Design concepts of environmental system, including key equipment used.
