Purpose of Role:

 

To lead and execute marine systems design and engineering activities, oversee project teams, ensure technical compliance, and support continuous improvement across the Engineering Design Centre.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead project teams in planning, scheduling, and executing design and engineering activities.
  • Prepare projectspecific drawing and document lists.
  • Ensure timely issuance of all drawings, documents, and deliverables.
  • Develop technical specifications for equipment procurement (e.g., major machinery) and perform technical evaluations of vendor bids.
  • Review marine systems Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), such as coolingwater, fueloil, and auxiliary systems, as well as HVAC layouts for detailed and production design.
  • Prepare and review machinery arrangement layouts for detailed and production engineering.
  • Review, manage, and verify technical submissions from external suppliers, and coordinate engineering interfaces with other trades and departments.
  • Verify and approve basic, detailed, and production drawings and material lists, ensuring compliance with contractual technical specifications, design control documents, Classification Society rules, and statutory regulations.
  • Participate in tests, inspections, and sea trials when required.
  • Liaise with shipowners, Classification Society surveyors, and relevant authorities.
  • Ensure all design comments from owners, Class, and Flag are captured in the Action Item Register and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Promptly notify the AVP/Manager of any delays or risks

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Mechanical/Marine/Offshore/Naval Architecture
  • At least 5-8 years experience in engineering design and/or Classifications Societies and/or as Sea-going Engineer (at least 2nd Engineer) and/or Naval Engineering Officer.
  • Well-articulated in presentations to both clients and senior management, with good command of English, both spoken and written
  • Strong leadership with project management and interpersonal skills

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Strong knowledge of marine international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations.
  • Engineering and design project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AVEVA Outfit Modules, and basic familiarity with AVEVA Administration tools.

    • Location: 16 Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
    • 5 days work week
    • Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
