Description: 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead a team in design and engineering of projects by planning and scheduling work
  • To generate list of drawing/document specific to each project 
  • To ensure timely issuance of drawings and documents
  • Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and perform technical evaluation of vendor’s bid
  • Prepare and review HVAC System and Coordination of Drawings and Bill of Material for Approval, Working and As-Built
  • Arrange for Material Take Off of equipment, ducting component and instrumentation
  • Prepare and review machinery layout arrangement
  • Perform Cooling/Heat Load, duct sizing, pressure drop and acoustics calculations according to ISO/ASHRAE standards.
  • Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization
  • To check drawings/documents and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations
  • Participate in tests and trials, where required
  • Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
  • Ensure that all design issues raised by owner, Class and Flag on drawings and documents are timely and properly captured in Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
  • To advise on any technical issues that require resolution
  • Monitor progress on projects under control
  • Actively check the accuracy and quality of all work
  • Keep abreast with current technological developments and products
  • Keep abreast with Classifications Rules, military and industrial standards relevant to design activities
  • Assist to identify competency development requirement for department and to implement agreed competency improvement plan
  • Take on the role of mentor to accelerate staff development
  • To foster strong teams and teamwork within the section and throughout EDC.
  • Collaborate with other EDC department to improve quality coordination, productivity and cost control
  • To provide proper and adequate supervision of all subordinates which takes into account their skills, knowledge and experience
  • Support other in-house departments and external parties, where required, by providing specialist technical advice and information
  • Assist in the development of new designs and design concepts.

 


Knowledge & Skills:

 

  • Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations
  • Engineering Design Project Management skills
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD and AVEVA Outfit Modules as well as knowledge of AVEVA

 

Requirements:

 

  • At least a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering.
  • At least 5-8 years experience in engineering design and/or Classifications Societies and/or HVAC engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations
  • Engineering Design Project Management skills
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills

  • Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
  • 5 days work week
  • Working Hours: 7.25am-5pm
