Description:

Responsibilities:

Lead a team in design and engineering of a project by planning and scheduling work
To generate list of drawing/document specific to each project.
To ensure timely issue of drawings and documents.
Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement and perform technical evaluation of vendor’s bid.
Review marine system piping and instrumentation diagrams (e.g. cooling, fuel oil systems) and HVAC drawings for detail & production design.
Prepare and Review machinery layout arrangement for detail & production design.
Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
To check and approve basic, detail and production drawings and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
Participate in tests and trials, where required.
Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
Ensure that all design issues raised by owner, Class and Flag on drawings and documents are timely and properly captured in Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
Monitor progress on projects under control
Actively check the accuracy and quality of all works
Take on the role of mentor to accelerate staff development
To foster strong teams and teamwork within the section and throughout EDC
Collaborate with other EDC departments to improve quality coordination, productivity and cost control

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations.
Engineering Design Project Management skills.
Good knowledge of AutoCAD and AVEVA Outfit Modules as well as knowledge of AVEVA Administrator.

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering
At least 5-8 years’ experience in Engineering Design for Marine related sectors
Well versed in Marine System Piping and Instrumentation, Machinery layout arrangements etc.
Familiar with Detailed Design scope for Marine Systems
Experience in leading and managing a small team of Design Engineers
